On behalf of the Organising Committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 7th European Mosquito Control Association Workshop (EMCA, 2015) which will take place in Valencia, Spain, from 23 to 26 February 2015. The purpose of the EMCA Workshop is to bring together researchers, technicians and manufacturers, in order to establish an open forum for presentation and discussion of the latest advances in the fields of mosquito control and vector-borne diseases.
The conference will include sessions on new technologies and methodologies interesting for mosquito control (different biocides applications systems, GIS programs, utility of insect sterile techniques, assays of larvicides, adulticides and repellents), issues linked with emerging and re-emerging vector-borne diseases in Europe, studies on vector surveillance and monitoring, as well as any aspect related with the biology, ecology, genetic and phisiology of mosquitoes. Comunications about other major hematophagous arthropod vectors in Europe, such as sand flies, culicoides biting midges, black flies, ticks or fleas are also very welcome.
EMCA 2015 will be held in Valencia, one of the world’s leading tourist, economic and cultural centres. The city enjoys a prime location, bathed by the Mediterranean and very well connected with the rest of Europe. Its geographic situation and the open character of its inhabitants are the reasons of its vast cultural wealth. It has a rich architectural, monumental and natural heritage, the most splendid exponents of which are the City of Arts and Sciences and the lake of L'Albufera. The city offers the visitors endless opportunities to explore and enjoy.
We will do our best to ensure that this 7th EMCA Workshop live up to your expectations.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Valencia!
With best regards,
Dr. Rubén Bueno Marí
Spanish National Director of EMCA
President of Organizing Committee 7th EMCA Workshop
